Vision becoming a reality for Chaffey College in Fontana

|
Looking to earn some college credits? Or maybe take a class for professional development? Perhaps you want to teach college courses but don’t want to drive too far away.
The Chaffey College Fontana Campus offers these opportunities and more to those interested and willing. Located along Merrill Avenue just west of Sierra Avenue, is the ever expanding Chaffey College Fontana Campus. An extension of the main college in neighboring Rancho Cucamonga, the Fontana Campus is currently undergoing more transformation with the addition of a new academic building.

The 7.3 million dollar expansion project started construction this
past March. The project will add over 30,000 square feet of space to
house classrooms, labs with prep rooms, a library, bookstore, student
lounge, dance studio and administrative offices.
The new building is Phase 3 of an ongoing, collaborative effort to
expand Chaffey’s presence in Fontana. Construction is scheduled to be
completed by the Summer of 2011.
The Fontana campus opened its doors in 1996 with one building and the
vision to better serve the residents in the eastern portion of the
Chaffey College District. Phase 2 included construction of a second
academic building with office space, classrooms and other amenities as
well as parking lot improvements. Now, with Phase 3 in the works, the
vision is alive and well.
Chaffey College and the City are
working together to determine the feasibility of moving forward with an
opportunity to create a Phase 4 development. With all the great success
from past phases, a Phase 4 would result in a full service Chaffey
College Campus in the community. Although discussion and planning for
Phase 4 is going on, any further development is solely based on funding
availability.
In the mean time, the growing campus is buzzing
with students, faculty and even construction equipment, all working
towards a common vision of creating opportunities for success in the
Fontana community and beyond!
